-
- PLEASE NOTE
- -----------
- MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THESE DISKS AND KEEP THE ORIGINALS SAFE
- Read your AmigaDOS Manual on how to go about doing this, but
- it is vitally important that you rename each disk to its
- correct name ie: AmigaDOS will name the first disk "copy of
- disk1", so this will need to be renamed to "disk1".
-
- Please make sure that disk2 is write enabled,as logs and data
- need to be saved to this disk.
-
- Once you have made working copies of the game, you must insert
- disk2 into any disk drive. Open a shell window and type:
-
- cd disk2:
-
- Now type either
-
- English
- French
- German
- Spanish
- Italian
-
- Depending on your nationality. The game is now ready to play
- or install to hard disk.
-
- Although this game specifies an Amiga with 1 Megabyte of
- memory, you will need at least 880K free to run the program.
- This means that a user with an Amiga, 1 Megabyte of memory
- and a hard disk attached will probably not run tornado from
- the hard drive since the workbench tends to use memory as well.
-
- WORKBENCH 1.2/1.3 USERS
- -----------------------
- Users with workbench 1.2 or 1.3 will not be able to install
- tornado to the hard disk using the method described in the
- technical supplement. To install to hard disk, open up a shell
- window from the workbench and insert tornado disk1 into df0:
-
- Then type:
-
- cd df0:
- install1.x
-
- with a return pressed after both commands. It will create a
- directory called dh0:tornado. Follow the system requests for
- disk changes. When the cursor returns in the shell, take the
- disk out of the floppy disk drive. Tornado can now be started
- in two ways:
-
- (1) - From the shell, type:
-
- cd dh0:tornado
- tornado
-
- (2) - double click on the dh0: icon on your workbench. In here
- there will be an icon drawer called "tornado". Double
- click on this icon, and another window will open.
- Double click on the "disk1" icon. Then double click on
- the big "Tornado" icon when it appears, and the game will
- start.

- Tips
- ----
-
- (1) - Enemy interceptors will have difficulty tracking you if you
- are terrain following at low altitude and at high speed. This
- may mean breaking formation temporarily to fly ahead and your
- route may no longer match the flightplan due to the wider
- turns at each waypoint.
-
- (2) - Take particular care when terrain following at high speed with
- 67 degree wing sweep.
-
- (3) - When landing with a high crosswind, you may find that the
- auto-approach system cannot remain centred in the ILS beam.
- This is when all that practice at manual landing comes in
- handy....
-
- (4) - Click on the 'update' button on the map screen after selecting
- new items from the key.
-
- (5) - Completion of all 14 missions in a single warzone, or completion of
- any single campaign, will earn promotion. Promotion to Wing Commander
- is not automatic upon the completion of a single campaign as
- described in the technical supplement.
